Marcus Vs. Coppell
January, 17, 08

The game started off strong with a great pass from Anna to Haleigh on the outside, who dribbled all the way down the line, but was defeated by one of Coppell’s midfielder. There isn’t much communication going on from either teams. Once again Coppell always seems to be the first one to the ball. With very little time in the first half Marcus doesn’t seem to be taking enough shots. The second half begins with a steal by Lainie Lambert, who attempted to cross it to Anna who made a nice run up the side. Megan sturton made a great cross to Christina Thomas, but was stolen from an opponent. Coppell saved a shot by Haleigh Harrel by kicking it out on their goal side. Megan Sturton takes the Corner kick, but it was progressed by no one. Megan was making a run when she collided with an opponent and had to come out for the rest of the game. Coppell runs through the defenders and sneaks it into the back corner to make the ending score 0-1.

JV RedMarcus Vs. Coppell
January 11, 08
The game started out with very little communication. Coppell was very strong, and always the first to the ball. Coppell Had a strong offense and dribbled past the defenders with a hard shot on goal, it was a great attempt by Lauren Koath, but she couldn’t quite get her hands on it. The score was now 1-0 Coppell, with 19:30 left in the first half. Marcus girls seemed to have lost confidence after the goal was scored, but after halftime they got their heads back into the game. A beautiful goal was scored by Frances Mickel who dribbles past 3 defenders and was one on one with the goalie. She kicked it low on the ground in the corner. GOALLLLL!!!! She scored with 28:52 left in the second half. Now that Marcus had their confidence back they took shot after shot. Coppell had a lot of shots as well, but Lauren Koath was playing amazing, blocking shots left and right. Kelly Riley had a beautiful turn and cross to Frances Mickel who shot a little too wide. Coppell was doing a good job at playing ball to feet most every time. A corner kick by Coppell, with a header from a teammate happens to go in the goal. Laura Fitz decides to stop it with her hands since she was already there. Thankfully, she wasn’t ejected from the game because she was behind the goal line when she touched it! The goal counted with only 1:20 left in the game. It was just the beginning of the season, and wasn’t the girl’s best game…but they never gave up!
